Landslides and floods obstruct several road networks in central, western Nepal

Landslides and floods have obstructed several road networks across the country, in particular in central and western parts of the country.

As of Friday morning, the following roads have been obstructed:

  • Narayangadh-Muglin road, Chitwan: Two landslides at Seti Dobhan, and Panchkilo, Bharatpur metropolitan city-29, have obstructed the road that connects Kathmandu with the East-West Highway.
  • East-West Highway, Rupandehi: The vehicular movement along the Rupandehi section of Nepal’s longest highway has been obstructed with a bridge over the Ghodaha Khola stream in the district caving in due to a flood.
  • East-West Highway, Nawalparasi: Floods have washed away a few road sections in Bardaghat and Sunawal municipalities of the district, obstructing the highway.
  • Roads in the Lumbini province: Several roads in Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Palpa and Bardiya districts have been obstructed.
  • Bhimdutta Highway, Kailali: The Bhimdutta Highway that connects hilly districts of the Suduarpaschim province with Kailali has been obstructed due to a landslide at Khanidanda, Kailali.

While efforts are underway to clear the obstruction and resume traffic movements, police have urged the public to avoid these routes as far as possible.
