The Dharan-Dhankuta road has been obstructed due to landslides and floods following incessant rainfall. Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Dhankuta, Rajbabu Maharjan, shared that vehicular movement was obstructed this morning due to a landslide that occurred at Sagurigadhi-6 of Dhankuta.

Landslides had taken place at Phedi, Ghante and Namaste waterfall areas along the road section, he added. The road was covered with stones and mud due to the flood in the Garjuwa stream. Maharjan said, ‘Efforts are underway to resume the road section.

One should adopt precaution while moving at landslide might occur anytime as rainfall is still taking place.” Meanwhile, more than 10 houses in Dharan sub-metropolitan city are at risk due to flood following incessant rainfall.

Chairperson of Dharan sub metropolis-16, Murari Bhattarai, who reached there for onsite monitoring, said two families, who were most vulnerable to disaster, were sent to relatives and neighbours. “Activities were underway to shift remaining families to safer places but the incessant rainfall has been making problems to it”, he explained.
