Land acquisition process begins for Naubise-Satungal road tunnel

The government has begun land acquisition process to construct a road tunnel connecting Sisnekhola of Naubise in Dhading district and Basnetchhap of Satungal in Kathmandu district.

The Kathmandu District Administration Office issued a notice for land owners today informing that the process has begun to acquire land in Mahadevsthan, Dahachok, Balambu and Thankot to construct an access road for the road tunnel.

Now, the owners need to claim compensations for their land within next 30 days.

According to the Department of Roads, the access road will have three lanes. The Department says a notice for global tenders will be issued in December-January.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 16 billion. Japan will extend a loan of Rs 15 billion at 0.01 interest rates to be repaid in next 40 years. Likewise, the government has allocated Rs 5.94 billion for the project.
