Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has received a vote of confidence. He won the vote at a Provincial Assembly meeting held on Monday.
57 votes were cast in his favour, while 22 votes were cast against.
Lawmakers from CPN-UML and the Nepal Communist Party voted in favour of the confidence motion, while Nepali Congress lawmakers voted against it.
The Koshi Provincial Assembly has 40 UML members and 17 Nepal Communist Party members.
RPP lawmakers remained neutral. RPP has 5 members in Koshi, including the Assembly Speaker. Nirmala Limbu, the sole lawmaker from the Janata Samajwadi Party, was absent.
Of the Provincial Assembly’s 93 seats, one member has resigned, leaving 92 current members. 83 members were present at Monday’s Provincial Assembly meeting.
