Kishor Kayastha’s ‘MUSTANG Nostalgia: A Two-Decade Odyssey’ to open in Kathmandu

The Gehendra Dhimal Foundation, in collaboration with the US Embassy in Kathmandu, is presenting “MUSTANG Nostalgia: A Two-Decade Odyssey,” a panoramic photo exhibition by renowned artist Kishor Kayastha.

According to a press statement, the exhibition, set to run from January 7 to January 14, at the Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal features 30 captivating panoramic photographs that chronicle the transformation of the Mustang region over the past two decades.

Kishor Kayastha’s work reflects a deep connection to Nepal’s landscapes, capturing the changing climate, urbanisation, and enduring traditions of Mustang. This exhibition marks the first public unveiling of his extensive two-decade exploration of the region.

Additionally, the exhibition highlights the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) project sites in Mustang. Over the last 20 years, AFCP has funded 28 cultural heritage restoration projects in Nepal, totaling over $4.54 million. Michael Harker, Chief of Public Affairs at the US Embassy, emphasised the US’s commitment to preserving Nepal’s cultural heritage through such initiatives.

Gautam Dhimal, Chairperson of the Gehendra Dhimal Foundation, noted the exhibition’s broader significance in fostering awareness about climate change and cultural preservation.

The exhibition is open daily from 11 am to 4 pm, with private viewings available by invitation.
