Kia EV6 ready to roll out in Nepal with its 500 km range

The electric SUV has won many awards for its performance and luxury in its price range. It won the 2023 World Performance Car award at the 2023 World Car Awards.

Kia is soon releasing its much-awaited electric car, the Kia EV6 in Nepal. The electric car is already open for booking. It was supposed to arrive in Nepal last year but due to tax policies and an import ban on goods, its release in the Nepali market was delayed.

The Kia EV6 has a modern style with many features. It will compete against the Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model 3 for the best electric cars. The electric SUV has won many awards for its performance and luxury in its price range. It won the 2023 World Performance Car award at the 2023 World Car Awards.

Exterior

The Kia EV6’s exterior design is a striking representation of modern elegance and innovation. Taking inspiration from Kia’s “tiger-face” design, the distinct headlights feature a thin LED strip on top and a larger LED projector below. At the rear, the taillights impress with a captivating horizontal light bar composed of individual LED lights in a checkerboard pattern.

The front end showcases a closed-off grille, drawing inspiration from Kia’s “digital tiger face,” complemented by large air intakes for efficient cooling of the car’s battery and electric motors. As for the rear, the sloping roofline and rear diffuser housing exhaust outlets lend a unique charm. Rear lights are seamlessly integrated into the diffuser, surrounded by a black glossy insert that accentuates the window glass.

On the sides, it boasts an aerodynamic profile with a long wheelbase and short overhangs, exuding a sporty and dynamic stance. The standard 19-inch alloy wheels feature a stylish design that harmonises with the vehicle’s overall aesthetics.

Interior

The Kia EV6 interior is designed to be both comfortable and convenient. The seats are heated and can be adjusted from the steering wheel, so you can find the perfect position for a long drive or a quick nap. The cabin is made with recycled materials and vegan leather, a sustainable and stylish alternative to traditional leather. There is plenty of storage space, including a centre storage tray, wireless charging pad, glovebox, and front and rear drink holders.

The front of the EV6 has slimline seats which can be lifted and reclined with a touch of a button, allowing the users to optimise their posture and distribute body pressure, making long journeys or charging breaks comfortable.

The EV6’s advanced infotainment system is designed to provide an intuitive and immersive experience. The display is made up of two separate screens: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. The instrument cluster displays information such as speed, battery level, range, and current driving mode.

The infotainment system displays information such as navigation instructions, media information, and climate control settings. The display is customisable and also equipped with a head-up display (HUD) that projects information onto the windshield.

The EV6 also has a 14-speaker Meridian® surround sound system, which delivers a truly immersive sound experience. This audio marvel, integrated into the car, delivers a truly immersive sound experience, enveloping you in rich and lifelike audio quality.

The Kia EV6 features a user-friendly digital control panel that enhances the driving experience with its simplicity and convenience. By simply pressing either the infotainment or climate icon, drivers can access the relevant set of controls on the intuitive display.

This streamlined interface allows for easy and quick adjustments, making it effortless to manage various vehicle settings while on the move. With a focus on user-centric design, the digital control panel ensures that drivers can stay focused on the road and enjoy a seamless and intuitive driving experience.

Performance

The Kia EV6 just did not win the World Performance Car 2023 as the performance features that it delivers stand out in electric vehicles. Its electric motor type is a Permanent Magnet AC Synchronous, delivering a maximum power of 226 bhp at 4600-8600 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm at 4600-8600 rpm. Equipped with a 77.5 kWh Lithium Ion Polymer Battery, the EV6 offers a remarkable drive range of 528 km, making it ideal for long-distance journeys and a great companion for in-city travel too.

Charging the EV6 is also convenient, with a 7 hours and 10 minutes charging time from 10 per cent to 100 per cent at 240V / 11kw. This time is mostly for those who charge at home using Kia’s 11W charger. Using DC charge the Kia EV6 can charge from 0-80 per cent in less than 20 minutes.

The suspension system it features is MacPherson Struts with a stabiliser bar in the front and an Independent multi-link with a stabiliser bar in the rear, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride.

In terms of braking performance, the EV6 is equipped with ventilated disc brakes both in the front and rear, providing reliable stopping power. The EV6 rides on 19-inch tires, with a tire size of 235/55 R19 for both front and rear wheels, offering a balance of traction and efficiency.

Safety

The Kia EV6 is engineered with a comprehensive suite of safety features that prioritise driver and passenger protection. The forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is a crucial feature that alerts the driver to potential collisions with other vehicles and can autonomously apply the brakes to prevent accidents.

The lane departure warning with lane keep assist ensures the EV6 stays within its lane, providing gentle steering assistance if the driver unintentionally drifts out of the lane. Additionally, the adaptive cruise control maintains a safe distance and speed between the EV6 and the vehicle ahead, offering a stress-free driving experience.

Blind spot monitoring is another valuable safety feature, alerting the driver when there is a vehicle in their blind spot, and reducing the risk of side collisions. The rear cross traffic alert acts as an extra pair of eyes when backing up, warning the driver of any approaching vehicles, and enhancing safety in crowded parking lots.

For added safety, the EV6 Air option incorporates additional features, including a centre airbag, positioned between the driver and front passenger seats, offering protection during side-impact collisions. The surround-view camera system provides a 360-degree view of the car, facilitating precise parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces. The blind spot view monitor displays a live feed of the blind spots on the infotainment screen, granting better visibility when merging or changing lanes.

The Kia EV6 has an innovative Head-Up Display (HUD) with Augmented Reality (AR) technology, projecting crucial driving information on the windshield for easy access. The Kia EV6 has many variants like the RWD, AWD, e-AWD, GT-Line (RWD), GT-Line (e-AWD) and GT (e-AWD). These options come with various trims and offers along with performance boosts like the GT lineup. However, only the Kia EV6 RWD variant is set to arrive in Nepal. It will be available in five colour options; Red, White, Black, Blue and Gray.

The price of the Kia EV6 in Nepal is Rs 12,590,000.
