Kathmandu, November 6
The main opposition Nepali Congress party has decided to field its leader Khem Raj Paudel as the party’s candidate for the by-election to be held in Kaski-2.
The election is scheduled for November 30 to fill the House of Representatives vacancy caused by the death of lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari in February.
A meeting of the party officials held at the central office in Sanepa of Lalitpur today decided to field Paudel.
Earlier, it had been said that Dhan Raj Gurung was being fielded from the party. However, Gurung, a native of neighbouring Syangja district, suggested that a local leader be given the ticket.
The ruling Nepal Communist Party is fielding late Adhikari’s wife Bidya Bhattarai in the poll.
