Kathmandu, August 5
Police at the Kathmandu airport have arrested a Chinese national in possession of four kilogrammes of illegal gold on Monday.
Police personnel working for the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office arrested the suspect during a routine examination.
He had landed in Kathmandu from Hong Kong and had hidden the precious yellow metal in his luggage, according to DIG Shailesh Thapa, chief of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office.
Further investigation is underway.
Of late, the cases of gold smuggling via the Kathmandu airport are on the rise.
