Kanchanpur incident: Home Minister Nidhi says India needs to apolgise

Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi says India must apoligise for the death of Nepali national Govinda Gautam at the hands of the southern neighbour’s border security force.

Nidhi, who was in Kanchanpur to provide Rs 1 million to the family of the deceased on behalf of the government, also handed over to Gautam’s widow an additional Rs 700,000 on behalf of the Nepali Congress.

Addressing the locals who gathered at Gautam’s residence in Kanchanpur, Nidhi said India needs to apologise for the incident which happened a few weeks ago. “It has already been established that the SSB opened fire during the incident. India should apologise and provide compensation for the victim’s family.”
