Kathmandu, June 12

A man who had recently come from India died in Chaurpati rural municipality-1 of the Kailali district. Police and kin have said the incident is suspicious.

DSP Bed Prakash Joshi, the Kailali District Police Office spokesperson, says Dhan Bahadur Shah (32)’s body has been kept at the Seti Provincial Hospital for postmortem.

He says three persons who returned from India along with Shah, a resident of the Achham district in the Sudurpaschim province, have been arrested for further investigation.

The kin say the four people had stolen some money and jewellery while returning from India and the others killed Shah after they could not settle a dispute.

“We have learned that they stole the valuables from the houses they were working for,” Ravindra Singh, a relative, says, “The CCTV footage has proved it.”

The four people had arrived in Dhangadhi on Thursday last week. After Dhan Bahadur fell sick, he was given some medicines from the local Maya Metro Hospital. As he did not recover, he was admitted to the Seti Provincial Hospital the next day.

Rabindra says Dhan Bahadur was discharged from the hospital after recovery, but his friends gave him some substances so that he lost his consciousness. They then admitted him to the Maya Metro Hospital that declared him dead.

The Kailali police, however, are yet to register a complaint while waiting for the autopsy report.
