Kathmandu, October 31
A demonstration was held at Maitighar Mandala in protest against the arrest of journalists. The protest was organised at the call of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).
The federation said it took to the streets after a rise in arrests of journalists, crackdowns on media houses, and interference by the government and police in newsrooms.
The protesting journalists questioned the government. Ramesh Bista, former senior vice-president of the federation, and senior journalist Devendra Chudal were among those who addressed the gathering.
