Janakpur police exchange fire with Indian burglars, nab eight

Janakpurdham, May 23

Police in Janakpurdham of Dhanusha district in southern Nepal exchanged fire with a gang of alleged burglars from India, on Wednesday.

During the exchange of fire, one of the suspects sustained injuries. Eight persons including him were arrested later.

SP Shekhar Khanal, Chief of the District Police Office, informs that the injured is undergoing treatment at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital.

Other arrestees were made public during a press conference in Janakpurdham on Thursday afternoon.

Police claim that the gang was in the city to steal cash and jewellery from the residence of Narayan Sharan, Mahantha of Janaki Bihar of Janakpur.

Police recovered a United States made pistol and its magazine, two rounds of bullets, another home made pistol and its bullet, one khukuri, three mobile phone sets and one battery from their possession.
