The chairman of a local ward in the Junichande rural municipality-2 of the Jajarkot district in Karnali has been arrested on the charge of assaulting a young man in the locality.
Earlier, a video showing the ward’s chairman Ram Bahadur Nepali beating up Sarpe Damai, tied with a rope, had gone viral.
Following that, Nepali has been arrested by a team mobilised by the Panchala Area Police Office. Police Inspector Khumananda Pandey says Nepali will be taken to the district headquarters Khalanga for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the assault survivor has also been summoned to the headquarters for further investigation. He has not filed any complaint against the ward chair yet, and police have requested him to file one to ease the investigation.
