5 killed in Jajarkot bus accident

Kathmandu, November 28

Five persons died and 25 others sustained injuries in a bus accident in the Jajarkot district of Kailali in the wee hours of Sunday.

The bus (Na 6 Kha 2757) heading towards Kalimati of the district from Nepalgunj of Banke had fallen off the road at Barahachaur, Bheri municipality-13 of Jajarkot at around 2:30 am today, according to local officials.

The victims–two men, two women, and a minor girl–are yet to be identified, informs Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Devkota.

The death toll may rise as three of the survivors are critical. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital.

The bus had fallen around 200 metres down the road at the incident site located around 11 km west of the district headquarters.

Police have arrested the bus driver to investigate the cause of the accident.
