IIFA award to be held in India

Kathmandu, August 18

Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd has said that this year’s IIFA awards will be held in India.

This comes after the PR company failed to host the event in Nepal due to heavy criticism from the public.  The company, on its website, announced that it will host the 20th awards in India itself. This is the first time that the award show will be hosted in India. The first edition was hosted in London in 2000.

The government of Nepal, which had agreed to host the award ceremony, withdrew its decision on July 3 after social media users, cinema workers and a section of political leaders of the ruling party itself criticised the decision after learning that the government would have to spend millions of rupees to host the foreign film award.

However, the government had claimed that it would not spend a penny for the event and argued that hosting the event was approved because it would promote the country’s tourism industry abroad.
