House dissolution debate: Deuba’s lawyers complete pleading

Kathmandu, June 27

Lawyers advocating for the Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba among 146 lawmakers demanding the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives have completed pleading on Sunday.

Now, from Monday, the government side led by Attorney General Ramesh Badal will present its arguments.

The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court had allocated 15 hours for each side. The petitioners (Deuba side) were given 12 hours to present their arguments and the remaining three hours will be given to counter the arguments of the opposition.

In the given 12 hours, 26 lawyers spoke in a span of four days (Wednesday-Friday last week and today).

The final verdict in the debate is expected in the next two weeks.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana and justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Ananda Mohan Bhattarai is hearing the debate.
