Kathmandu, June 21
Minister for Land Management and Cooperatives Padma Kumari Aryal said that the process to withdraw the Guthi Bill has already begun.
Answering questions raised by lawmakers of the House of Representatives, Aryal said that the Cabinet on Thursday asked for the withdrawal of the bill.
“The Cabinet has already asked us to start the process. Will announce that it has been withdrawn soon,” she added.
She further stated the government would revise the bill which will still aim to preserve culture and traditions along with giving fare rights to farmers farming on guthi-owned land.
The bill was withdrawn after people, especially from the Newar community, protested it.
