Kathmandu, July 16

Amid speculations that if the new government is preparing to announce the new budget plan for the fiscal year that began today, newly appointed Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has clarified that the government will table the old KP Sharma Oli-led government’s plan announced through an ordinance, seeking its endorsement.

Speaking at a function at the ministry on Friday, Minister Sharma said the new government would own the ordinance and table it in the House seeking approval. Then, the process will move forward in whatever way the parliament wants it to go, he said.

He was of the view that the House could also decide if the new government needed to announce a new plan.

In another context, the minister said the government would issue a white paper to state the country’s recent economic status, and the government’s vision for its improvement.

“I am still studying the economy, but we will issue a white paper as soon as possible,” he said.
