Govt introduces new rule on coming into and leaving Kathmandu

Traffic police check motorbikes in Kathmandu during the lockdown.

Kathmandu, June 14

The government has announced that anyone willing to enter or leave the Kathmandu Valley will need permission from their concerned local governments during the lockdown although various restrictions have been relaxed now.

The decision was made in a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday.

Those who receive permission from their local governments will need to submit the papers to their respective District Administration Offices to apply for a vehicle pass. After that, the DAO will analyse the threat, and based on the reason for travel, will grant a pass.

Meanwhile, those who want to travel outside the valley will need to give appropriate papers that clearly state their purpose of work for permission.
