Kathmandu, September 22
The government has decided to ensure the regular operation of essential public services during the upcoming festive season.
A meeting of government secretaries held on Monday made the decision, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The meeting also decided to take measures to prevent disruptions to road transport, taking into account festivals such as Dashain, Tihar and Chhath as well as the ongoing monsoon.
Chief Secretary Govinda Bahadur Karki said the meeting decided that concerned agencies would prepare schedules and make necessary arrangements to ensure regular operation of essential public services by keeping personnel, resources, machinery and equipment in proper working condition.
The meeting also decided to strengthen joint market monitoring to control black-marketing, price hikes and unfair business practices that may occur in the market during the festive season.
