Gold price hits record high, crosses Rs 200,000 per tola

Kathmandu, August 29

The price of gold reached a new record high on Friday, breaking the previous record set just three weeks ago.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of hallmark gold rose by Rs 1,200 per tola compared to the previous day, reaching Rs 200,600 per tola — the highest rate recorded so far. The earlier record was Rs 199,400 per tola, set on August 7.

Similarly, silver prices also climbed by Rs 5 per tola, reaching Rs 2,360 per tola from Thursday’s Rs 2,355, also marking a record high.

Federation’s First Vice President Dharmasundar Bajracharya said the rise in the Nepali market reflected the increase in the international market. “As prices fluctuate internationally, they are adjusted accordingly in the Nepali market as well,” he said.

In the international market, gold prices have crossed 3,400 US dollars per ounce.
