Goalie Kiran Limbu named best player of the year, Koju wins popular title

Kathmandu, September 11

Nepal’s national football team custodian Kiran Limbu has been named Player of the Year at the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award on Monday.

Limbu, who saved three spot kicks during the AFC Solidarity Cup final, was nominated for the award award along with cricketer Sharad Vesawkar, footballer Sujal Shrestha, shuttler Ratanjit Tamang, volleyball’s Man Bahadur Shrestha and athletics’ Som Bahadur Kumal.

Similarly, shuttler Nangsal Devi Tamang has been named best female player of the year. The Special Award went to Prisoners’ Assistance Mission, for its work in helping children of parents serving jail time improve their lives through judo. Similarly, the youth award went to judo’s Manita Shrestha Pradhan.

Nepal’s first pro golfer Ghanashyam Thapa was accorded the lifetime achievement award, and the national volleyball team was adjudged Team of the Year.

Long distance runner Kanchhi Maya Koju won the Popular Player of the Year award.
