Galchi bridge survives as floods destroy 35 bridges in 3 districts

Kathmandu, August 31

The devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River on August 25 damaged 35 bridges in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.

The floods swept away the pillars of some bridges, while others sustained partial damage.

Meanwhile, the bridge at Galchi in Dhading has survived the flooding. People are currently using the bridge to travel to villages across the river in Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading.

Rescue and relief teams deployed to the affected areas are also using the bridge.

An alternative route via the Galchi Bridge is currently being used to reach various local levels in Nuwakot.
