Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Thapa has urged the ruling Nepal Communist Party to give rest to its chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is currently undergoing treatment in Singapore.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Thapa at first wished for the speedy recovery of Oli and thanked him for abiding by the new law that the government would not cover costs of the leaders.

Then he complained that the government failed to provide truthful information about Oli’s health status to the House and told the ruling party to give him rest considering that he might have to frequently travel abroad for treatment.

Though Oli still possessed the willpower for leadership, Thapa said, “But, willpower is not everything. Physical health also decides many things.”

Speaking after him, the ruling party’s lawmaker Surya Prasad Pathak accused the opposition party of ‘seeking its existence in the prime minister’s health’.
