Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa has said the government and main opposition party should be on the same page about activities of the banned Maoist outfit led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and how to deal with them.

In an interview with Onlinkhabar, Thapa says, “This issue is not only about daily peace and security. This is a political issue; and it should not be taken as an agenda of the ruling or opposition sides. If possible, all parties in Parliament should have one uniform opinion about it. If that is impossible, at least the government and the main opposition should stand together.”

He says the government should make efforts to talk with the opposition parties before developing any opinion and taking action about such important issues.

Clarifying that his party firmly believes that the Biplav-led group should give up violence and join the mainstream politics, he says the government should take initiatives to bring the party to the talks table.
