The French Embassy in Nepal announces the handover of a 120-hour French language program to the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre (BPOTC) of the Nepali Army. The program was developed by the Alliance française Katmandou (AFK) and financed by the Defence Wing of the French Embassy.
The event took place during Ambassador Virginie Corteval’s visit to BPOTC on November 17. She was accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Jean-Marie Holtzinger, Deputy Defence Attaché for Nepal, and Mr. Sylvain Choin, Director of the Alliance française Katmandou.
Recalling Nepal’s contribution to peacekeeping operations in various countries, Ambassador Corteval stated, “France is proud to provide this program to support the training and professional development of Nepali Army personnel engaged in international missions through linguistic cooperation.”
The program strengthens oral comprehension and expression in French and is designed to enhance the communication skills of peacekeepers who operate in environments where French serves as an operational language.
The program will be based on virtual learning, supervised by the teacher at the BPTOC. One of the major goals of this program is to enhance oral proficiency
Each participant will also receive an AFK membership card granting access to the AFK media library, in-person and online workshops, and the digital platform “Culturethèque.”
