Fred Hollows Foundation celebrates 25th anniversary in Nepal also

The Fred Hollows Foundation, an organisation established by Australian ophthalmologist Prof Dr Fred Hollows, has celebrated its anniversary in Kathmandu of Nepal as well.

The organisation is partnering with Nepal’s Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology since the Nepali institute’s inception in 1994.

Hence, the Institute hosted a programme on the occasion this morning.

A media release issued by the organisation says the partnership between two organisations was “as strong as ever.”

“Fred Hollows had a straightforward mind and a golden heart–he was my soulmate,” Tilganga Institute’s founder Dr Sanduk Ruit has been quoted, “We spent endless evenings trying to solve a problem very close to our hearts – how to bring high-quality cataract surgery to people who had no hope of affording it.”

Dr Ruit is currently in Australia to celebrate’s the Foundation anniversary.
