Four voting centres in Rukum out of contact

Rukum, June 28

As many as four voting centres in east Rukum have gone out of contact since the morning of voting day, says the Chief District Officer.

CDO Banshi Kumar Acharya says the voting centres in Bhume Rural Municipality could not be contacted via telephone.

Incessant and heavy rainfall has been blamed for the disconnection.

But, the District Election Commission says voting is underway peacefully and enthusiastically in all places including Bhume.

Meanwhile, floods and landslides have blocked the Mid-Hill Highway at various points, giving a hard time to voters as well as poll officials.

Rukum had been divided between provinces 5 and 6; hence, six local units in Province 6 have already held voting in the first phase on May 14.

Four other local units in Province 5 are undergoing voting today.
