Four dead, 26 injured in Makawanpur bus fall

At least four people died and 26 people were injured when a bus carrying wedding attendants crashed at Gauri Bhanjyang of Gadhi rural municipality in Makawanpur district, south of Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

The District Police Office has identified three of the deceased as locals Som Bahadur Rumba (34), Som Bahadur Moktan (28) and Suraj Loko (24) of Gadhi rural municipality-7. The fourth victim, a man in his mid-20s, is yet to be identified.

According to police, the bus (Na 3 Kha 3556) was travelling from Jitpur Bhanjyang to Sukaura when its brakes failed and fell off the road at around 7 pm. Three of the deceased died on the spot, while one person succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur.

Among the injured, 19 people are being treated at Chure Hospital, three at Hetaunda Hospital and four at the College of Medical Sciences.
