Kathmandu, May 2
The Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and the Naya Shakti Party Nepal have fielded Forum’s Pabitra Bajracharya and Naya Shakti’s Sabina Aryal as candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City respectively.
Bajracharya was in the CPN-UML and had won ward chairperson’s election in KMC-23 in 1992 and 1997. He had defected to the then Federal Socialist Party along with Ashok Rai.
Later, the party had been merged with Upendra Yadav-led Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum to form the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal.
Aryal was in the CPN-Maoist Centre, but left the party along with Naya Shakti chief Baburam Bhattarai.
The two parties parties have already agreed to contest the polls in alliance with a common election symbol (torch).
