Floods occurred at Varagung Muktichhetra rural municipality-4, Kagbeni in Mustang on Sunday evening and caused damage to nearly 20 houses, a police post and a bridge.
Chairperson of Muktichhetra rural municipality Rinjin Gurung shared the flood-damaged homes, bridges and a police post. He said a suspension bridge, two vehicles and three electricity poles were also swept away.
“No one died as people were warned of an imminent flood. The flood took place after the Tiri rivulet above Kagbeni was blocked”, he said.
Gurung said muck from the flood has buried many houses in Kagbeni.
Chief District Officer Anup KC said the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been mobilised for rescue efforts.
The road leading to the Upper Mustang via Kagbeni has also been obstructed. Mustang has also witnessed incessant rain for the past couple of days despite it being a rain shadow area.
