Some roads in the districts affected by the Bhotekoshi flood have reopened for traffic. With the main highway still not operational, the government has urged people to use alternative routes.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority says those who don’t require emergency helicopter rescue can use these alternative routes.
The Authority has published the current alternative route connecting Rasuwa and Dhading. According to this route, travellers can reach Rasuwa via Nuwakot’s Bidur-Dhikure-Chaughada-Aapra-Narja-Lachyang-Sarmarthaley-Patikharka, continuing through Bogtitar (the Pasang Lhamu Highway to Rasuwa)-Kalikasthan-Dhunche. Four-wheeled vehicles are currently operating on this route.
In Dhading, however, the alternative route itself is now blocked. The Prithvi Highway section running through Dhadingbesi-Parewatar-Nepaltar-Gajuritar-Adamtar-Belintar-Keurinitar to Mastar (Hamlet Restaurant) had been operational, but the road has now been washed away at Parewatar. That stretch is currently blocked in both directions, and no alternative route has yet been identified.
