Kathmandu, October 13

A Bhutanese refugee camp in Damak of Jhapa district caught fire in the early hours of Sunday morning, damaging around nine huts.

Ward chair of Beldangi-2 Nabin Baral said that the fire broke out from a kitchen of one of the huts. To ensure the fire did not blaze the entire camp, some huts were taken down, informed Baral.

Area police office chief Shyamal Subba informed that the fire was put under control with help from the municipality’s fire engine, locals and police officials.

Subba informed that one person in the camp had been injured. Details of the amount of property lost in the fire are yet to be established, he added.
