Dragonair has been officially rebranded as Cathay Dragon, bringing it closer to Hong Kong’s flag carrier Cathay Pacific. After the conversion, which came into effect from November 2016, all airplanes of Cathay Dragon will now carry the iconic ‘brushwing’ logo of Cathay Pacific.

“The rebranding, however, encompasses far more than simply a new name and look,” a press release issued by the airlines says. “It will introduce both airlines to a wider audience, from the growing inflow of overseas passengers who are more familiar with the Cathay Pacific brand, to the increasingly large numbers of Cathay Dragon passengers from Mainland China who seek the convenience and assurance of an internationally-recognised premium airline with global connectivity.”

Cathay Dragon won the title of the World’s Best Regional Airline in the Skytrax World Awards for the fourth time last year. The airlines connects Kathmandu to Hong Kong directly five times a week from where connecting flights to several destinations can be taken.

Cathay Dragon has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific since 2006. It operates a fleet of 42 passenger aircrafts which covers a total of 52 destinations worldwide.
