A panel formed to recommend the new vice-chancellor for the country’s oldest and biggest university, Tribhuvan University, has submitted it’s report to the government.
The panel has recommended popular cardiologist Dr Bhagawan Koirala on the top of the list of three people. Other two candidates include Dr Dharma Kanta Baskota and Dr Chandra Mani Paudel.
Incumbent rector Sudha Tripathi, who has been given the role of acting vice-chancellor for three months till the appointment, is not kept on the list. Earlier, a panel formed to investigate into irregularities in Nepal’s medical education had recommended action against her.
Now, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, also the chancellor of the university, will select one from among the three.
Earlier, media reports had claimed that Oli offered the prestigious position to Dr Koirala, but he didn’t give a clear positive answer.
