A diesel tanker caught fire while unloading, at a fuel station in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district in southwestern Nepal on Monday evening.

The vehicle (Lu 2 Kha 1541) along with 30,000 litres of diesel in it was completely destroyed after the incident at around 7:45 pm yesterday. It was unloading fuel at Everest Oil Suppliers in Anchalpur, Siddhartha Nagar-8 of the district.

Narayan Khadka, a machine operator of the fuel station, sustained minor burn injuries in the incident, according to District Police Office Spokesperson Khadka Bahadur Khatri.

Fire engines from Siddhartha Nagar, Tilottama and Butwal municipalities contained the fire so that adjacent houses and the petrol pump was saved, according to DSP Khatri.

Police are investigating into the case.
