The main opposition party has raised questions over the government’s efficiency in managing resources and infrastructures required for a better Covid-19 response.

In his meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli about pending appointments at various constitutional bodies on Monday, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba asked Oli to explain reasons for the delay in managing adequate ICU beds and ventilators.

The former prime minister also suggested the government should devise a new strategy to combat the health crisis in the country, also complaining that the government, however, was not serious about such suggestions.

He also raised concerns over the government’s failure to relocate locals of Lidi, Jugal rural municipality in Sindhupalchok, which resulted in the loss of dozens of lives recently, inform the sources privy to the meeting.
