The electric sub-brand of Changan, Deepal has launched its first electric car in Nepal, the Deepal S07. The electric crossover SUV was launched alongside the Deepal L07 sedan back in November of 2023. The electric car has got a lot of features and specs at the price range it has been launched. MAW Vriddhi AutoCorp is the official dealer of the four-wheeler electric car.

Deepal currently sells three models which include the sedan and a mid-sized SUV alongside the electric crossover SUV. Currently, Nepal has electric cars in all sorts of ranges, including budget options, mid-range and luxurious options. The Deepal S07 is somewhere in between the mid-range and premium options.

Design

Exterior

The overall design of the Deepal S07 is unique and modern. The front has a sloping front hood with aerodynamic lines for better performance. The electric car has two LED DRLs which are sleek and stylish. The LED headlamps are just below the LED DRLs which have a pretty good throw and have auto lighting function during the night. There is also a small grille which allows for cooling. On the sides, there are vents for the ventilated disc brakes.

From the sides, the sloping roofline with wide-opening doors complements the modern sporty design. The door handles are pop-up which helps in the aerodynamics and performance. It has a frameless window on both the front and the rear.

The front windows are double glazed too for sound damping. The side mirrors have integrated indicators which also have cameras for the 360-degree view. The right side on the back also has the charging port for both the AC and DC.

The rear of the Deepal S07 has a connecting rear light with the Deepal logo in the middle. It has a triangular-shaped taillamp. The LED indicators are situated just below the main taillamps and follow from the side to the rear. It has a spoiler with an LED light in the middle which complements the rear look.

Interior

The interior of the Deepal S07 is as luxurious and modern as the exterior. It has soft-touch materials and synthetic leather in black and orange colour options. The interior has a 64-colour surround atmosphere and ambient lighting. The range of colour options can suit a range of people. The steering wheel has a volume control and media control on the right side and others. The drive selector is on the right side of the steering wheel and the indicators are on the left side.

There is also a sensor on the front of the steering wheel which is a safety feature to keep an eye on the rider during rides. There is also a Heads Up Display which shows information for speed, battery left and navigation.

The Deepal S07 has a 15.6-inch infotainment system just in the middle which controls all the functions of the electric car including navigation, music and phone connectivity. The climate control system is also on the infotainment system and the vents are just below it.

The centre console on the Deepal S07 has a large spilt space to keep important and on-the-go items. There are two cupholders which are deep and can fit large bottles. There is one 40W wireless charger on the left side with a cooler and a space on the right to just keep the phone.

The seats on the front of the Deepal S07 are heated and ventilated. The driver’s seat has a memory function which adjusts when the driver seats in and goes back to normal position in the park. The rear seats are spacious and have wide legroom and decent headroom. The rear seats also receive seat-moving functions for the front seats to adjust properly, along with controls for the moon roof.

There is a large panoramic moonroof covering the front to the back. It cannot be opened but has electrically operated blinds when there is too much light coming from it. The boot space on the Deepal S07 is quite good with 445 litres on the rear and 125 litres on the front. It also has 14 speakers for an immersive audio experience.

Performance

The Deepal S07 has a 99 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, which reaches its peak power at 190 kW and delivers a peak torque of 320 Nm. It is powered by a Ternary Lithium (NMC) battery with a capacity of 66.8 kWh. This battery configuration grants the S07 an impressive range of 410 km on a single charge. For charging it has AC charging capabilities of up to 7kW and DC charging capabilities of up to 87kW. The fast charging feature enables the vehicle to charge from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in just 35 minutes.

In terms of performance, the S07 features a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) system and can achieve a top speed of 180 km/h. The Deepal S07 has a McPherson Strut suspension on the front, while the rear suspension features an H-arm Multi-link independent design. It is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels and runs on 255/45 R20 tyre size on both the front and the rear. The braking is handled by the ventilated disc brakes on the front and disc brakes on the rear.

Safety and Features

The Deepal S07 is equipped with a range of safety features including 6 airbags on the front, side and curtain, Brake Assist (BA), an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), an Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Hold Control (HHC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Pre-tensioned force-limited seat belts, height-adjustable seat belts, and reminders for both front and rear passengers. Child safety features include electronic locks, ISOFIX and auto door unlock upon collision. Other safety aids are a 360-degree around-view camera, parking sensors, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and an electric parking brake with an auto-hold function.
