Criminal activities have increased in the country lately.
In the last two years, Police Headquarters reported that there have been over 10,000 incidents of crime.
In the fiscal year, 2022/23, 56,319 criminal activities took place as compared to 46,902 in the fiscal year 2021/22.
The police reported that out of the 56,319 incidents of various natures registered in the fiscal year 2022/23, more than 23,000 cases are still pending and yet to be resolved.
In the fiscal year 2022/23, the highest number of crime incidents, 16,627, occurred in the Kathmandu valley, followed by 9,844 incidents in Madhes province, and 8,720 incidents in Koshi province. Similarly, Bagmati province has recorded 4,679 incidents of crime, Gandaki 4,177, Lumbini 6,997, Karnali 1,729, and Sudurpaschim 3,503.
The Central Investigation Bureau has registered 43 incidents of crime. Banking offences and cybercrimes have shown an increase in recent times, as reported by the authorities.
