Covid vaccines for children aged 5 to 11 have arrived in Nepal on Sunday.

Around 2.2 million doses of vaccine, as a part of the COVAX initiative, arrived on Sunday. The second shipment of vaccines will arrive soon.

The vaccines will be sent to storage facilities in all seven provinces by Sunday evening, informs the Health Ministry.

Initially, the vaccines will be given to children aged 5 to 11 in 27 districts. The government has said it will start giving administering the doses from June 25 to June 29 and plans to vaccinate 1.9 million children.

Those who have already received the first dose will be given the second dose between August 21 to August 31.

The children will be given the Pfizer vaccine.

The government is giving children aged 12-17 a booster dose against Covid.
