Court extends Bipalv Maoist spokesperson’s remand

Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma

Kavre, August 20

The Kavre District Court on Monday extended the remand of Netra Bikram Chand ‘Bipalv’-led Communist Party of Nepal’s spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma by next three days.

The court had remanded him in custody for three days on Sunday. However, his remand was counted from Friday as he was arrested that day, and hence it expired today.

Therefore, police had produced him before the court today, seeking a 15 day extension. However, the court extended the remand by just three days.

Police have launched an investigation against him in connection with an explosion at a crusher plant in Namobuddha Municipality of the district in April.

Meanwhile, another habeaus corpus writ has been filed against his arrest at the Supreme Court on Sunday.

Bishwakarma, who was earlier arrested on extortion charge, was released after the apex court ordered so in reponse to a habeaus corpus writ filed by his son on Friday.
