Kathmandu, September 15
Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe is scheduled to meet Speaker DP Aryal on Tuesday to draw his attention to the need for forming a high-level mechanism for post-flood rescue, relief, reconstruction and long-term solutions.
According to Angdembe’s secretariat, during the meeting, Angdembe will urge the speaker to form a high-level parliamentary committee to oversee rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts following the floods, his secretariat said.
The proposal comes amid the failure to form an all-party mechanism proposed by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane shortly after the devastating floods in Rasuwa.
The ruling party leader had proposed forming a high-level all-party mechanism for post-disaster rescue, relief and rehabilitation. However, 20 days have passed, and the proposed mechanism has yet to be formed.
Angdembe’s secretariat said he will also urge Speaker Aryal to continue the question-and-answer session with the prime minister in Parliament.
