Kathmandu, October 8
The election to choose the Nepali Congress’s new Central Working Committee, which was to begin at 10 am today, has been postponed until 1 pm.
Raju Katuwal, member secretary of the Central Election Committee, said the vote was pushed back to 1 pm because preparations were not complete.
The voting schedule had earlier been announced for 7 am on Thursday. Citing rain and some technical issues, the committee then moved the start to 10 am. It has now been delayed again, to 1 pm.
A total of 7,255 delegates to the general convention will vote to choose the party’s next leadership.
Voting at three locations
Seven polling stations have been designated at three locations in Kathmandu. Separate polling stations have been arranged by province and by category of representation for the delegates’ convenience.
The Election Committee has designated polling stations at the Rastriya Sabha Griha, Khulamanch, and Pragya Bhawan.
Delegates from Bagmati Province will vote at the Rastriya Sabha Griha.
The polling station for delegates from Gandaki and Lumbini provinces is at Pragya Bhawan.
Delegates from Koshi, Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces will vote at Khulamanch.
Delegates of each province or group must go to their designated polling station to vote. Voters will be allowed to cast their ballots only after their identity and the voter list have been verified.
