The Election Commission has sought a clarification from the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal’s federal council chairperson Baburam Bhattarai.

He has been asked to clarify why he showed people who he had voted for and tried to influence people to vote for his party.

Baburam Bhattarai, after voting, had posted a photo of his ballot paper on Facebook. After protests on social media, he later deleted the photo.

According to the commission’s rule, people who publicise their ballot paper can be fined up to Rs 15,000.

“He’s been given 24 hours to submit his clarification. We sent him a letter on Viber,” says a commission source.
