winter session

Kathmandu, August 29

The House of Representatives (HoR) has scheduled the passage of the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080 BS, for September 4.

The decision was made following discussions between Speaker Devraj Ghimire and chief whips of various political parties at Singhadurbar on Thursday. The bill is expected to be endorsed if returned by the National Assembly on time.

The Civil Service Bill is regarded as a key piece of legislation for implementing administrative federalism.

According to Speaker’s communications expert Shekhar Adhikari, the HoR has set a 15-day parliamentary calendar, with meetings scheduled for September 3, 4, 10, 11, and 12. The School Education Bill is tentatively planned to be passed on September 11.

The HoR is also set to pass the land-related bill on August 29 and send it to the National Assembly, while the citizenship bill is scheduled for passage on September 3. Similarly, discussion and endorsement of the Constitutional Council-related bill, returned by the Office of the President, are also on the agenda.
