Chitwan landslide: Missing buses still not found

Two passenger buses remain missing in the Trishuli River following a landslide at Simaltar along the Mugling-Narayanghat road section. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 am in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29, Chitwan district.

The two buses, carrying around 65 passengers, were swept into the river by the landslide. Search and rescue operations are currently underway, but the buses and their passengers have not yet been located.

Likewise, the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Indra Dev Yadav, said the rescue teams have faced some difficulties due to continuous rain and the swollen Trishuli river.

Currently, the rescue teams including the divers of the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force, Nepal have been mobilized in the boats to search for the missing buses.

According to Yadav, a bus of Ganapati Deluxe heading to Gaur of Rautahat from Kathmandu was carrying 41 persons and the next bus on its way to Kathmandu from Birgunj had 24 persons on board. Further details of the accident are awaited.
