Kathmandu, December 24
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, has met Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the chairperson of a faction of the Nepal Communist Party that has recently split.
Hou had gone to Dahal’s residence in Khumaltar at around 9:30 am on Thursday and they discussed various issues including recent political developments for around 20 minutes, it has been learned.
The ambassador has been often criticised for her excessive engagements with the NCP leaders whenever the party is in internal disputes. Just a few days ago when the two factions of the party called separate central committee meetings, formally signalling the party split, she had immediately met President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who has sympathies for the factions led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
