Chief Justice Raut to be appointed and sworn in today

Kathmandu, October 6

Newly appointed Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut is set to be officially appointed and sworn in today.

President Ram Chandra Paudel will appoint Raut as the Chief Justice and administer the oath of office and secrecy at the Sheetal Niwas.

The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 pm today.

Raut became the Chief Justice after the retirement of former Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha on October 4. The Constitutional Council had recommended Raut for the position on September 16.

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee approved Raut’s nomination on October 2.

He will serve as the Chief Justice for one and a half years.
