Chand-led NCP’s Kathmandu in-charge arrested

Kathmandu, July 21

The Kathmandu bureau in-charge of the banned Nepal Communist Party (Netra Bikram Chand group) was arrested in the valley late night on Saturday, police said,

Maila Lama was arrested in Kathmandu hours after getting off a bus from Kavre and resting in Kadaghari. According to police, Lama came to Kathmandu to mourn the death of the father of party cadre Resham Lama. An officer investigating the case said that Lama was arrested from the first floor of a house.

Police have recovered four mobile phone sets from Lama, the erstwhile chief of the Maoists’ culture wing. Lama, who has given his voice to numerous ‘revolutionary’ songs, told police that he used various locations as his shelter to work as the party’s Kathmandu in-charge.

Police are preparing to file culpable homicide charges against Lama for his involvement in the Nakkhu blast a few months ago, which killed a man and injured two others. Lama is also likely to face crimes against the state charges.
