Central Jail records 13 inmates’ death in six months

As many as 13 inmates have died at the Central Jail of Nepal during the first half of current fiscal year.

Dr Bagat Lal Shrestha of a hospital inside the jail informs that the 13 inmates died due to different diseases. He is of the view that the coldness of the jail also resulted in many deaths.

“The prevalence of various communicable and noncommunicable diseases such as common cold, cough, fever and typhoid in the jail and ageing are the causes behind the deaths,” he adds.

Dr Shrestha further shares that the patients who cannot be treated at the prison’s hospital have been referred to Bir Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Mental Hospital and Gangalal Hospital for further treatment.
